POLICY & ADVOCACY

CWIT leads resolution to address equity in the trades

CWIT’s policy team worked on a resolution reaffirming Illinois’ commitment that public dollars must support contractors who uphold the values of inclusion, safety, and fair opportunity. HR Resolution 161  passed on October 30, 2025.

Chicago steps up for equity on job sites

Introduced to the Chicago City Council on July 14, 2025, the Chicago Construction Workforce Equity Ordinance, led by Chicago Women in Trades, would strengthen community oversight and enforcement of programs that incentivize contractors to hire women and people of color on Chicago construction projects and expand funding for supportive services that remove barriers for workers.
